A Staircase Above Studios

Sharing the same birth year (1977) as the first television video game console (Atari), it was destined from childhood that Video Games would play a large role in his life. James Sokolowski, born on November the 17th, and has been influenced by Video Games his entire life. Although he played baseball for 9yrs and was in a band for 17, and even had a small role in the idependent zombie film BITEZ, playing video games persisted throughout it all. The dice landed on Video Game Designer as the career choice to finally pursue.

In 2010, James decided to take his passion further, and enroll at Full Sail University for a Bachelors Degree in Video Game Design. On the verge of graduating, his dream became a reality when it was realized, “We could start a Studio now.” So he formed A Staircase Above Studios with his friends and Co-Founders, Quincy Thomas and Shawn Lynch. James Sokolowski decided to re-name himself "Mr. Sox" in the video game industry. In honor of his grandfather, "Grandpa Soks", his father, "Mr. Sokolowski" and in admiration to Cliffy B.

Mr. Sox is driven by entertainment. He begs to be entertained and wants to entertain you. Focusing on the “fun”, Mr. Sox will be the last one to quiet down at a brainstorming and the first to call one together.

“I just want people to remember why they fell in love with video games in the first place. To remember when and why they would stay up until 3 or 4 a.m. just to play that stupid game.”Mr. Sox (James Sokolowski)
